is a New York City-based soprano who has demonstrated natural ability in both oratorio and operatic performance. She has been a soloist with the Front Royal Oratorio Society and VSA Chimers, and sings regularly with the New York Virtuoso Singers, Collegiate Chorale of New York, and the Society for Universal Sacred Music. Ms. Rood has also performed with the American Symphony Orchestra at Carnegie Hall, as well as the National Symphony Orchestra at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C.
Ms. Rood’s opera credits include performances with Bard SummerScape, Chelsea Opera, Opera Manhattan Repertory Theatre, Martha Cardona Theatre, Sing Thru Central, American Singers’ Opera Project, and Shenandoah Performs. She has captivated audiences with her portrayal of Violetta Valery in “La Traviata”, Rosalinde in “Die Fledermaus”, Pamina in “Die Zauberflöte”, Filippa in the premiere of Bergman’s “Piazza Navona”, Countess Almaviva in “Le Nozze di Figaro”, and Laurie in Copland's “The Tenderland”.
Ms. Rood received a Master's in Vocal Performance, a Bachelor's in Music Therapy, and a Performance Certificate from Shenandoah Conservatory, during which time she was a state winner in the National Association of Teachers of Singing competition and the recipient of The Wilkins Conservatory Award. She toured internationally as a soloist with the Shenandoah University Conservatory Choir under the direction of Robert Shafer, and was a soloist with the Shenandoah Conservatory Symphony Orchestra and Chamber Orchestra.
Music education is also very important to Ms. Rood. Playing multiple instruments herself, she maintains an active roster of private music students throughout the greater New York City area. Furthermore, she is a Board Certified Music Therapist who has worked with autistic children, the terminally ill, elderly, preschool age children, and children with cancer and blood disorders.
